SSG 69 Scope Mount

#1 Post by John8892 »

Hey everyone

New member, and I am in need of help! (Already, Geez!!)

I have a .308/7.62 SSG 69 PII, just got a new scope with a 30mm Tube, can I find rings? Nope!

The new scope is a 4/24x50 so I would need the high mounts to clear the barrel and I was thinking of 2 methods.

1. Try to get a set of ring mounts as normal.
2. Upgrade rail to a Picatinny rail.

I would prefer option 2 but need a bit of guidance first though.

Thanks

Hi John :good:

My SSG04 has a Sightron 8-32x56 with high Millet Angle-Loc rings and they are too high (about 11mm clearance between barrel and scope cover), if you can lie the rifle down and position the scope in the correct position then measure the gap between the scope tube and the picatinny rail, this will give you a better idea of ring height as not all low/medium or high mounts are the same.

On the SSG-04 a gap between tube and rail of around 11mm would give my scope 3mm clearance above the barrel.
There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)

Buy this...

Then get a friendly gunsmith like Norman Clark to drill and tap the receiver and fit the rail.

Perfect! Looks like a winner. I am guessing I may need a BH12mm to give enough clearance then. I'm guessing the new rail height as a few mm's.

Thanks guys.
