Funny that this has come up because a couple of weeks ago, some friends & myself were shooting in just that manner out in Alabama redneck country.

The guy in the photo knows his stuff & was hitting the 12x18" steel plate out at 100yds with regularity & the same size plate at 50yds almost every shot.
I was getting close but missing the 100yd gong & hitting the one at 50yds three or four times out of each eight round magazine - Kimber & Springfield 1911's respectively.
Another mate was doing pretty well with his CZ75D carry gun.

Maybe more by luck than design methinks...good bit of trick shooting if he can do it on demand. Makes me wonder why they still put the sights on top of the slide...

What's to be gained by doing it that way??

I would slap then "s***" if they turned around that casually with a weapon in their hand - floppy and sloppy - if I was shooting with, next to or RO ing them!

sign01

Point 1
As for sideways shooting - let the goons and goblins do it that way - improves the chances of cops and pros of rapidly ending any "ballistically enhanced social discourse"!

Additional Points for thought
2. We are primates - our biceps / triceps function in main linear directions to our chest
- turning the arms (one or both) sideways will twist the muscles and reduce recoil recovery and transitions

3. We have the binocular eyes working on largely horizontal planes PLUS we have and the relationship of the ears and balance as well.
- turning the arms you break decades of brain wiring and work

4. Try hunching and shooting like that - yeah right!! Thats why they stand still and make better targets!
- Refer to point 1 above!

In summary - test the concept - take a hammer and go hit some nails using a sideways strike! :55:

isn't the correct method to shoot from the hip with a machine gun shouting 'get some' ?

or run after someone whilst shooting at them..

or shooting weak hand out the car window at someone when you can just run them down a second or two later...

too much John Woo stuff around these days...

Maybe they've fitted these... the claims of surviving being thrown 30 feet seem truly impressive
