The gun is called a Sturmgewehr 44, literally meaning "storm rifle," and is the first "modern assault rifle ever made, eventually replaced by the AK 47 in 1947 by Russia,...
:lol: Really? Where'd they get that from? Well, East Germany probably had Sov rifles, but the AK47 didn't "replace" the StG44.

An STG 44.....Shweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet :D....I reckon the Imperial War Museum would love to get their mits on it ;)

Er, you DID read the story in the link? What would the IWM have to do with this find, even IF they were offered it; the gun was found IN the USA??

Besides, the IWM has plenty of Stg.44's already
