I have had a Shooting SHED jacket built especially for the event so hopefully people will recognise me and come and say hi.

Since this is the first time at this venue I can't say that this place or that will be a good place to meet.

However...what about the NRA stand?

Having never been before, can anyone advise on what to look out for deal-wise? The flyer that came with the tickets said there were "show only deals". What sort of things have these been in the past?

We'd be delighted to see you all. I'll still bring biscuits even though I can't eat them now!

Probably old stock they can't shift, people are suckers for "show only deals" at any type of show as they buy on impulse without researching prices elsewhere. I was looking for shotgun stuff for me and the wife last year (didn't have an Fac at the time) and all I came back with was a couple of cartridge range bags as everything else I looked at was more expensive than my local gun shops, I even found cartridges were £20 more than what I usually pay.
Gone are the days of cheap prices on everything at shows due to the massive fees the sellers are charged by organisers.

Im sure there will be some bargains on some stuff but if you are after specific stuff make sure you check out prices elsewhere beforehand as a lot of people have this perception that everything is cheaper, bit like shopping on eBay and Amazon, they are not always the best prices. I've already found out I can get some bargains after the show on the display stock that my club is taking :shakeshout:

I do not recall bargains at the previous shows, it is more a chance to touch and look at things, talk to people. All in one place.

I agree Primer, given the price of a stand at the show the vendors are going to have to shift a lot of items to even recoup the stand costs so there is little incentive to sell at discounted prices.

As an example we were quoted GBP640 for a small stand with banner (Ex VAT) We would have had to sell a lot of stock to get that back, let alone make a profit if we discounted our items for the show.

I do not expect to find any true bargains at the show, yes some people may be knocking a fiver off here and there, the real advantage is it is a one stop shop for all of your shooting needs and you should be able to find everything from a broken case extractor to a .50BMG rifle if you so desire.

We are there to meet up with people we know and have a peer at the latest products.
