Well, we have now had lots more experience with the Goblinator carbine and we love it. We tried using a scope on it (6x42 Kapps) but find it far more fun to shoot with the open sights - a peep sight with two apertures, presumably for long and short range, or day and night.

It's awesome to load up a magazine and then fire it, standing unsupported, as fast as we possibly can, imagining we're back at Mons in 1914 and bringing down an Uhlan cavalry charge

I have owned mine for quite a while it is one of the better ones I think. It shoots well.
I changed the magazine for a 5 round AK47 mag it feeds a lot better than the original. I shoot it with cast boolits purchased from Dodgyrog.
They are 165grain .311 gas checked. I use Lapau cases CCI primers and 2400 powder. It is scoped I shoot it of a bipod with good results. Mines a definite keeper.

Ours is accurate too ! We use the standard 10 round mag with ours, though we have tried 30 round AK47 mags too to enhance our 'mad minute' capabilities. They usually work okay, though sometimes a round will fail to feed...

Ammo ? We just use 7.62x39 milsurp

Ammo is not easy to come by were I live and I prefer to re load my ammo anyway. I enjoy hand loading as much as I do shooting actually its debateable I think somr times I just shoot because it gives me a excuse to reload. I am having great difficulty sourcing full metal jacket bullets so I have gone down the cast boolit route. I am working on a load to use in doors on a 25yard range I am hoping to gain access to shortly.
I am also looking at acquiring a .22 bench rest jobby once I have done my home work.

I am going to have a go at removing the front sight and flash hider thingy off the front of mine and fitting a thread protector. I have noticed when I removed it for cleaning there was a lot of crud building up behind it. I am curious to see how it shoots with out it.
It gets a lot of attention when I take it to shoots you don't see many of them on the range.

I have one and its fun to shoot. I got a jungle carbine adjustable rear sight which fitted spot on.
I have a scope and bipod on it at the moment and its zeroed at 300 yards, which is really the effective accurate range for this cartridge.
I can get all shots in the 5 as long as its not too windy.
It`s been to Sennybridge a lot and I can get the fig11`s at up to 450 yards on a good day. In fact its a great gun on the CQB range there which goes out to 350 yards or so.
I have shot it in LERA`s Enfield Challenge and its a good gun for that event.
Its not the most accurate gun but it is cheap to shoot. I have tried cast with varied results. Have used hand loads with S&B bullets with varied results. The best ammo so far is the Russian Tula factory stuff.
The bore on mine is just over 0.311. I have used 308 tracer bullets in it (and my 303) for fun.
I did see the TVG 6.5 Grendel and if I had a spare slot at the time would have bought it.
Cheers,
Tony

Might there be any advantage to fitting a red dot style sight to replace the current rear peep sight / front post combination ? We didn't really think it merited a telescopic sight for use out to 300 yards, but as we get older the concept of a red dot with its single plane of focus might become useful, particular in keeping with the fast acquisition / medium range use of the carbine.

I havn`t tried a red dot on mine but I do have one of these on a Marlin:
http://www.ultradotusa.com/ultradotdist2010_006.htm
There is a new version called Matchdot 11 which has a bullet drop compensator adjustment.
I got the matchdot as it appear very popular in 3 gun shooting and can be used on an AR out to 300 yards.
Other types other red dots I have tried fell apart including some ATN sights.
I paid about $180 about 5 years ago for mine and brought it back from the US.

Here's my 7.62 AIA M10b No4 - only had the chance to shoot it once so far, but really enjoyed plinking with it. Few other guys at the range gave it a spin and confirmed my opinion that it's a nice gun that appears to be well put togerther; and all for £250, not including scope or bipod. Only problem is finding a spare M1a/M14 mag for it but thats not a biggie.

A up date I removed the front sight flash hider and made a thread protector the rifle is kitted out with a scope and a 5 round mag it shoots really well. Most of the time I use it with cast boolits at 25 yards out door ranges or on the club indoor range.
I have enjoyed owning this rifle had a load of fun with it. I am leaning to wards a .222 for my next fun gun. But we will see.

We have a Walther red dot (actually a red cross) on our now. It's a superb combination, ideal for fast target acquisition and more than accurate enough for sett defence. We can get off 10 shots in just over 20 seconds in the standing unsupported position and the group size is about 4 inches at 25 mards
