Thetford Gallery range
Well, Saturday morning was our last chance to use Thetford Gallery range for a while as apparently they are fitting new targets. The works are due to take 6 months to complete so no shooting until April sign01
Does anyone know what works are being carried out and why it could possibly take so long?
Shame as its a cracking 600 yard range (and only 20 miles down the road)

Oh, didn't know that, has members been informed?
Re: Thetford Gallery range
Christel,
I dont think so-first I heard of it was an email to committee members on the 1st Nov. I think we have got a few more Barton Road dates to compensate and they will be running at Thetford distances. Shame really as Barton is a great range but a long round trip for most club members.

The MOD have been upgrading their Small Arms Range Target System (SARTS) so it's probably due to that. We lost Lydd range during the summer while they had their upgrade.Meaty wrote:Well, Saturday morning was our last chance to use Thetford Gallery range for a while as apparently they are fitting new targets. Dan,
Does this system impact on the type of target that can be used? or do you still have the lifting frame arrangement used in conjunction with the SARTS. Just done a google search and drew a bit of a blank.

Re: Thetford Gallery range
If someone can tell me how to get pictures up, I will show what it looks like.
Basically, the top of the mantlet gets completely rebuilt with a concrete surface dug into the top and two pop-up electronic targets in each lane on the concrete. Gallery frames remain and can be used as before.
