Andy Marsh is on now ..... says it costs £196 to issue a FAC or SGC but reckons doing it Online will reduce costs to £100 per license.

I'd cough up £100 quite happily if it meant cutting the multi-month waits and delays in the current paper-based system.

I thought the BBC was supposed to be impartial!

Who ever is standing in for Jeremy Vine (its Paddy O'Connell) is as much a self opinionated tit as he is.

In fairness, +1 (especially as I would think doing it online would mean no excuses for needing a 1-for-1 would hold water).

I just worry that the line of thought carries on to £200, £250, £350, £500 etc etc.

I look at it like this......We all pay the police for things we don't see, pub licenses we we never go in, operations that don't affect us, other things that we pay the police for but a tiny portion of society actually see any service i. E. The criminals.....so society pays the police to make sure we're safe, ok (shame about ryan/hamilton/bird/atherton) so everyone pays for us to be safe and we pay a bit into the pot to help out......if it goes up i want better service.....

I say scrap it altogether - think of the money saved in paperwork & all the FEO's can get back on the beat, arresting burglars and litters louts

ETA: Not forgetting they'd be able to advise Op. Trident on how to brief the BBC Press Office next time a large batch of airguns are seized
