Here is the reply I received this morning from UKIP.

Dear Mr Prior.
The party thinks there should be proper and sensible gun licensing in place. We certainly do not want to see any move towards the way gun licensing is done in America. However for those who require hand guns for pest control (farmers) and sport there should be stringent licensing that undergoes constant renewal. The fact that the UK Olympic shooting team had to go to France to train is what Nigel was questioning especially.
Most guns used by criminals are unlicensed and traded on the black market. That should be a police priority. Having thorough hand gun licensing for those people who require firearms for professional or professional leisure reasons would not impact on the circulation of firearms among criminals. I do hope that clarifies things. I can assure you that we certainly are not advocating a form of free for all with gun use and ownership.
Kind Regards.

That's why I'm a party member.....this letter alone should attract all fac sgc holders in the uk's vote!
When someone says "it's not about the money" you know what? it probably is all about money!

Well praise the lord..... its a miracle..... a reply from a politician!

Still waiting for mine, its not a policy statement, a little vague, but its something at least and positive, this coupled with a withdrawal from the European nightmare.....my vote is now in the pot.

That was the one that I got.
I forwarded it to another member to get it up on here. He probably won't bother now.
He is welcome to put up the one I sent them and the auto-reply.

Hmmm, call me cycnical but that doesn't read like it would be pre-97 licensing for handguns. "Professional leisure reasons" sounds more like the arrangement for the GB Olympic team for the 2012 games i.e. a handful of already established plympians given S5 authority, no scope for new blood or new non-olympic disciplines

When I received the vague reply I was a little disappointed as it referred to hand guns which I do not possess and it did not mention rifles which I do.
So I will reply later on today and ask a few more questions. I am not expecting specific answers just more of the same that politicians spout to be honest.
Even if they offer me platitudes that my rifles will be safe for evermore, but in the event of another Dunblane/Hungerford incident, you can bet your bottom dollar that a shift in attitudes by UKIP will prevail and more restrictions will surely follow. Suspicious, me! Never!

Thanks for your email Bryan with UKIP`s response.

Please do reply and hopefully you will receive a reply that makes sense. Not sure why the reply from UKIP only mentions handguns.
