One of the guys at work is just going thru his NRA application, and on it, they mention
When guns are outlawed, only Outlaws will have guns
Re: NRA - long range psitol
Yea its a 308Win / 7.62 action, like a swing or RPA, minimum length barrel & a hand grip not much more, but for a scope sight. they sit on benches with the pistol butt rested & try not to snap their wrists when they let it off! they shoot 1000yds with it & often match us shooting the same round but thru a rifle! Monster ! gunlike
Quality control of Scottish Ethanol. & RDX/HMX

Re: NRA - long range psitol
awesome, thanks!
I suggested to him it would be pistol length rifles, but wasn't sure, so thought i'd check

Re: NRA - long range psitol
Back in the day, I had a go at long range pocket pistol.. max barrel length 2 1/2 inches, shooting at 100, 200 and 300 yds....
I used my ex-police S&W M19, using factory .357 magnums..... I think i even managed to hit the target a couple of times..!!

A friend of mine used to shoot these type of pistols. He had one in 6mm, one in 223 and one in 44magnum. There were great looking pieces of kit and I've had the pleasure of shooting his cannon breach 44 out to 300m-400m at Sennybridge F range. Great fun!

Used to shoot this for fun when smokeless pistols and revolvers were allowed.
The chair/trolley things were called flying machines.
They were not mandatory then but you will need some way of resting your pistol and getting the elevation necessary.

I shot alongside some LRP shooters at a couple of F Class comps at the Trafalgar, they were certainly holding their own at 1000. They were an eclectic and fun bunch of shooters and I remember the Viking was engaged in conversation with one of them for ages on Century.
Interestingly I can still remember a conversation with one, he wanted to buy a pointing system so I built him one. During the many 'phone conversations we had he slipped into conversation the word 'Eviscerate' whist referring to the state of primers once shot. I still smile when I think about it.

I believe that Long range pistols are subjected to the same ridiculousness as LBRs and s1 shotguns. They do not fall into the Home Office approved firearms for clubs so don't have the option of an exemption under the 1988 Ammendment Act...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
