Re: If we were allowed to carry. (Fun Discussion)
Majority of US Police carry .40 calibre side arms. I read that some forces adopted the .45 for a while but later reverted back to .40 cal. Incidentally, did you know that because of it's body mass .45 hollow points will only further enrage a charging Grizzly Bear. Apparently .45 ball is one of the few pistol calibre bullets that will stop it.

Purely because I know it and get on with it quite well, I'd go for a Gen 4 Glock 17 in 9mm. Boring but effective.

I'll bear that in mind...Rab wrote:Majority of US Police carry .40 calibre side arms. I read that some forces adopted the .45 for a while but later reverted back to .40 cal. Sorry... I'll leave now.

Please do, I'm sure you've come across more than one of two Grizzly types during the course of carrying out your duties.AJSawyer wrote:I'll bear that in mind...Rab wrote:Majority of US Police carry .40 calibre side arms. Just a few... although I'm not sure a bundle is a recognised way of surviving a grizzly bear attack...
Getting back to it, what about a USP 9. Should do the trick.

My old Para Ordnance P14 in .45acp
14 rounds of .45acp in 180gr - more oomph than 115gr 9mm and less recoil than 230gr .45acp

There's a lot of small compact handguns available these days for those over the pond.Daryll wrote: Thats a new one on me, but looks good for self defence....
Some of the highlights in 9mm.
Glock 43
S&W Shield
Walther PPS M2
Walther CCP
You'd be more than adequately armed with any of the above, small enough to conceal, large enough to do the job and not so large they'd be left at home because of weather, printing or hassle.

Re: If we were allowed to carry. (Fun Discussion)
A glock 19 as I just seem to shoot glocks well, although I'm also a fan of the usp in 9 and 45.
Re: If we were allowed to carry. (Fun Discussion)
A Glock 19 is a sensible option, same size as my old G23 and comfortable enough to EDCC for an average sized person.
