I have just read more about the 6.5CM and put in a variation on the intention of buying a Ruger PR, then decided I would like another AI.

Geek wrote:I have been looking at secondhand AI's, so that I can convert to 6.5CM. E-mailed a couple of dealers that had AE's mk III's, but just too much money when for not much more you can have an AT was my conclusion.

I already have an AI AT (26" barrel), fantastic piece of kit. I was similar to you, added a 'cheap' scope until I could buy the one I really wanted (S&B PMII 12-50x56 P4fine).
Fair point, I have just gone off switch barrels after my Sako Quad experience, I appreciate that the manufacturers don't pay the same game let alone in same division; its just a personal preference. Also I would prefer to have two separate rifles, I found with a switch barrel that there is a tendency to leave one barrel on and ignore the other.

I finally 'pulled the trigger' on a scope.

Can't justify the £2500~ price tag for a PMII, just yet at least. So I've gone with an 8x56 fixed S&B Klassik.

Optics warehouse had them at a great price, at least £50 cheaper than elsewhere, although theres a bit of a wait as they are on backorder.

Fingers crossed it gets here soon, I'm itching to get out with it.

Anyone got a scope leveller they'd be willing to let me borrow to set it up when it comes (And do my other rifles at the same time...!)...?

Glad you are enjoying your new purchase, a couple more weeks and I would have bought it :)

I bought my S&B from Optics Warehouse, had an 'issue' with delivery date (about five months, but not their problem [S&B]), however I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again; and much cheaper than anyone else.

Eeek, don't say that, mine hasn't arrived yet, it's on backorder...!! :o

Saying that, i did get a tracking number from them, even though it was on backorder... wondered if it came in early.

Who knows...

Fingers crossed it turns up soon!

I won't be swapping scopes over the next couple of weeks so you may borrow mine if you wish. If no-one local to you can drop one off give me a shout and I'll post it up to you (unless you fancy a drive down to Swansea of course lol ).
