I was adding that such extra-curricular activities are not uncommon irrespective of WHERE in the UK you/we are!

I'd not get complacent unless you have either an Isle of Man or Ulster postcode

One of our local FEO,s has fired mine, thought it was great fun. Never heard of any of the surrounding counties having issue with them.
They are mostly interested in you being suitable and a regular shooter and not a hoarder.

Fixed it to prevent confusion...it wasn't the RFD that thought the guns were S.5 due to slam fire = he loaned the Edinburgh police the guns for testing (which they had for about a year!)
Wonder how much THAT dented the Firearms Dept admin budget? (as it was Firearms Enquiry Office staff carrying out these various tests on SGC LR's & pump action shotguns)
And is this actually in their remit? Since when did they become qualified firearms inspectors and technicians who know more than the Home Office(?) boffins who deemed them legal - no doubt after doing exactly the same tests or more?!

Mission creep?

I thought it was on FBUK but now I cannot find it.
It's in a private page that you have to join to read/see.

Frankly until I see the video I'm calling bullsh1t on the whole thing. The posts the guy makes don't read like someone who knows a great deal about firearms (more Call of Duty educated), his FB profile has zero information on (although if he was an ARV officer that would be a sensible thing to do given he's supposedly 'whistle blowing') but then at the same time he's likely to be the only person who has (supposedly) been asked to do the test so he's readily identifiable anyway... Yep I'm calling shenanigans and I think this guy is either a Walter Mitty freak that's got wind of the rumours and is craving attention Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy style, or strapping my tin foil hat on for a second, a Whitehall stooge trying to whip something up.

Ok so let me get this straight...........

We are all speculating about this and it actually orininated here ?

I am surprised the mods are allowing this to carry on. What started out as ONE guy talking about a video he was asked to participate in has degenerated into "Police warn shooters not to buy brand x".

It was running a while before I mentioned the OP might be a member here. Yet the speculation has continued. Its now on facebook too and sounding more like fact by the minute.

Mods - how about a clarification that this is an UNPROVEN post by an individual who may or may not be an AFO and he has no real facts about the intent behind producing the video ?

Then lock it !!!!!!

Someone started a thread on the forum, stating he made a video comparing Mars, lever release and semi auto? The individual is a serving ARV officer? Who?

I'm with Mark, I'd call it bollox as well! The video is to be passed to NABIS? It would be the other way round. NABIS, who are the recognised "experts" would be making the video and cascading it down. The fact is, AFOs are highly trained in their field and that is, in the tactics devised to counter an armed criminal threat. They are not gun experts. Firearms are they're tools. NABIS on the other hand, forgetting the political motivations of their management, employ those of a scientific/engineering expertise.

Unnamed source, unnamed force.... UK Shooting News is written by Gaz who used to be on hear. I wouldn't be surprised if this actual board and the plonker who posted such an idea is the "source"...

Anyhow, am I not right in thinking that the FSS did a wagon loaded of testing already on these semi-semi systems? The authorities are well versed in these action types.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!
