Mine is my original late '60s NPZ Novosibirsk produced 4x24 PSO-1 Dragunov scope. It has a magnesium body, BDC elevation turret calibrated for 150gr 7.62x54r, a built in stadiametric rangefinder (up to 1000m based on 1.7m high target), illuminated reticle and an infrared detector that can pick out active IR at night.

It has fully multi-coated lenses made using Carl Zeiss technology (lenses have some very small gas bubbles in the glass that aren't visible when looking through it normally and are apparently very common in high quality lenses from before the 1970s) and the optics are as clear now as the day it was made and is very easy to zero and use.It has a quick release mount on it that maintains zero perfectly no matter how many times it is taken off and refitted.

Give a man a gun and he can rob a bank.....give a man a bank and he can rob the world!.

More than a vested interest in 7.62x54r!

Can I pick two?

For my rimfire rifles, I will second phaedra, love my Simmons WTC 1.5-5x20. It's amazing how nice that glass is for the money!!

For my centrefire rifles I really like my IOR 3-18x42. The glass is excellent quality, I'd say it's on par with S&B but a fraction of the price. I've used this scope along with a Vortex 6-24x50 out to ~1,300m and the IOR still maintained good clarity at this range whereas the Vortex was starting to "grey" out a bit.

That I own, its going to be another vote for the Simmons WTC 1.5-5. At the Northern Shooting Show I fondled a Vortex Razor HD Gen II 1-6x24 and I virtually had a tear in my eye it was that nice, then I found out the price and I had plenty of tears! I think a 1-somethingx mag scope with a central red-dot is going to be in my future though, its just finding a decent one for my budget. If the Vortex Strike Eagle had a simple dot or Eotech style dot and ring I think that would fit the bill but the one it has is overly complicated for fast, close shooting IMO

You'll have to keep an eye open on fleabay! That's where I had mine from a few years ago. Price was £75 included P&P and the original (slightly beat up) box. I saw one at a local RFD for £100 a month or so ago...

Elcan Spectre DR on my BAR15. Bright, sharp, great FOV and red dot/illumination if required. No windage to faff with, ballistic ret that works.

the only down side is the lack of an elevation drum but you can still shoot through the gate and fine adjust the POI a click or two for changed loads.

+1 with Snayperskaya . The PSO-1 does a perfect job at what it was designed for. :good:
With a stadiametric range designed for an illitarate mujiik & a 7,62 calibrated elevation, the scope is super simple & fast to use even by a froggy thicko.

Don't matter what other people think, it's what you think that counts.
