totally mint, unfired judging from how black the front of the polymer frame went after 200 rnds last friday
On the serial numbers note, unknown plenty of people with 6 .22's etc.
When guns are outlawed, only Outlaws will have guns
Re: Home Office - Recording Rifle Serial Numbers
As previous posters, our club maintains a central register of serial numbers (for those that are kept in the armoury) or unique reference for others, and assigns a number to each. I fill in a card when I shoot that says "Rifle 1 - match" or "2 - Practice". It's not too onerous and I don't have any issue with the club having the serials.

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Re: Home Office - Recording Rifle Serial Numbers

My guess is the national bodies think it's so minor they haven't challenged it.
dromia wrote:Does anyone know if any of our "national" bodies had any input into this silliness and if so what their position on it is.
I suspect it would be supporting the HO stance rather than common sense and gun owners. I would like to be proven otherwise.

Speculation I know but if that is the case then that is just not good enough!

Re: Home Office - Recording Rifle Serial Numbers
Belts and braces approach to proving "good reason". The guidance now says that a firearm held for target shooting as a member of a HO approved club, should see that firearm used at least three times per year.
If that firearm is held with other good reason, such as part of a collection or vermin/game, then there is no such requirement. After the slating that firearms departments have taken over recent years for their failings, it's not difficult to see how this has come about nor, that the associations do not see it as too erroneous.
Unfortunately for many of us, it is just regarded as another level of control and a chip-chipping away at our gun ownership as a whole.
It's not about guns, it's not bully-boy tactics, it's just that no one effing well trusts anyone anymore! That is what we should lament....
