Vortex Razor HDII or Kahles?
Hi guys,
I was about to buy a Vortex Razor HDII 4.5-27x56 but I've just seen an exDemo Kahles "Kahles K 624i 6-24×56 MOAK CCW Abs" for pretty much the same price.
I loved the idea of the bombproof Vortex warranty, should I stick with that or is the Kahles that much better, considering the SRP £2,600?

Our vote would be to go with the Kahles if the price is the same, and assuming you may want to use it in poor light. In good daylight at known ranges both will be equal, but as the last photons scurry over the horizon the Kahles will probably be that ikkle bit better.

I don't have any experience of the Vortex, but I do have a Khales 624i on my AI-AT and it's a really nice scope.

I have not tried the K624 however I have been using the K312 for a few years now and it is superb albeit rather heavy. The Vortex always seem to work well (For my eyes when paper punching) and the lifetime no questions warranty is a real plus when compared to other makes.

We reviewed the Vortex in Target Shooter a few weeks ago - www.targetshooter.co.uk Again, it all depends on intended use. FFP is not needed for range use.Viper wrote:Hi guys,

Vortex make three 'levels' of optics - Razor is the top end, Viper is the middle (made in the Philippines). Price reflects the quality.DW58 wrote:I'm a big fan of Kahles scopes, I have a K1050 MOAK on my .308 T3 - superb build quality, excellent mechanics and top class optics.
As for Vortex - no, I briefly owned a Vortex Viper 6-24x50 PST, never again. Dubious optics, poor tracking, the only positive was the warranty.

Yes, so I found out but not until it was too late. As for that Vortex, it was replaced by a Minox ZA5 5-30x56 and subsequently a Swarovski 6-24x50BT L which is still with me, it's a lovely scope. The Gun Pimp wrote:Vortex make three 'levels' of optics - Razor is the top end, Viper is the middle (made in the Philippines).
