Is that for sporting (ie expanding bullet) use or range-work? AFAIK, all .444 factory ammo is for game and therefore needs expanding bullet authority on your FAC.

(There is a move to get rid of the quasi-S5 status for expanding bullets and ammo loaded with it currently under way, but as always nothing in British legislation is either certain or even when a worthwhile change takes place happens quickly.)

Only Hornady and Remington load the cartridge, and all factory ammo I've come across is from the former. Hannams lists three models on its current price list .... but as the company has had great trouble getting supplies from Hornady in the US in recent years with many ammo grades unobtainable, you'll just have ask them and see. Not cheap at £39.50-41.07 / 20 depending on the bullet.

The Remy ammo is only loaded as a 240gn FNJSP which most deerstalkers regard as an inadequate bullet being designed for very much lower velocities from .44 Magnum carbines or revolvers.

The Home Office Guidance has stipulated since 2000 that expanding ammunition used in a tubular magazine is exempted from "expanding ammunition authority"...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

How does that work in practice, if you have lever action on your FAC then same as the expanding bullet condition?

Just goes to show what a pathetic system we have !!!.
What is a Sapper? This versatile genius condenses the whole system of military engineering and all that is useful and practical. He is a man of all work of the Army and the public ready to do anything or go anywhere, in short, he is a Sapper.
