Re: Requirement for Clubs to Hold Competitions
No need to get defensive.
You obviously have been victim of clubhouse experts when it comes to being advised on applying for your FAC and given part of the story, the worrying bit in your tale however is that you have come away thinking that what you were told was the "rules".
I suspect firearms certification will only "give a damn" if you haven't been doing that which you said you would do and from your tale your are complying with that with gusto.

Re: Requirement for Clubs to Hold Competitions
I wouldn't disagree with the first part, although it was suggested rather than the rules. I guess as the club runs comps anyhow, they have found it an easy way to justify what they want and it worked for me as I have everything I want (for now..)dromia wrote:No need to get defensive.

Apologies if I came across badly again..
Re: Requirement for Clubs to Hold Competitions
Simply shooting targets is good enough reason for ownership regardless of casual or competition.

In regard to the OP, I completely agree.RDC wrote:Simply shooting targets is good enough reason for ownership regardless of casual or competition.

hrun. What did you actually write on your variation sheet after gun/ calibers. I wrote target shooting. Did you write competition or something else?Hrun wrote:In regard to the OP, I completely agree.RDC wrote:Simply shooting targets is good enough reason for ownership regardless of casual or competition.
As I wrote target shooting I feel happy and justified in plinking. Although I can enter comps too
When guns are outlawed, only Outlaws will have guns

Re: Requirement for Clubs to Hold Competitions
I do not remember the exact wording and am in no way suggesting that competitions should be a requirement. It was just an observation that plod did not question my first time request for multiple guns in the same calibre as the comps gave an easy different reason for each firearm

Re: Requirement for Clubs to Hold Competitions
That is fine if you want to shoot competitions.
If you don't then it is not a good idea to commit yourself to something that you do not wish to do.
There is no requirement for clubs to hold competitions or for people to shoot competitions to get an FAC. Shooting competitions will only be a requirement if that is what you said your good reason to possess was.
I have a few score guns on my FAC and entering competitions are not a requirement as I never gave that as a good reason, although I could use them for such if I so chose to do so.
