I don't believe the UK govt will be in a hurry to implement this, they have enough on their plate working out how to extricate us from the EU.MistAgain wrote:Simple..................thats the way it works.HALODIN wrote:How do you know this?

Not necessarily and not all directives apply to all countries.
https://www.quora.com/Can-an-EU-member- ... ome-EU-lawWhat an interesting question. Politicians and journalists will give you whatever answer is convenient du jour. Lawyers will tell you "no". Legislative draftsmen, if they were permitted to be frank, would say "all the time".
Unlike most treaties, the Treaty of the European Union ("TEU") is binding on Member States, even the dualist ones such as the UK. Part of the TEU deals with Directives, Regulations, and public enforcement.
Member States officially must enact Directives into national law, in a way that satisfies the objectives of the Directive ("indirectly effective"), by the date of the deadline. That's the purpose of Directives. After that they are subject to public enforcement action by the EU (which can run into tens of millions per day of delinquency) and private enforcement via Francovich claims (don't try this at home). Until implemented in domestic law, the local Courts must ignore the Directive if before the deadline. After the deadline, if not implemented adequately then domestic courts may interpret the Directive as if it were a kind of domestic law.
It's quite common for Member States to be delinquent, and quite common for them to be fined. If the problem goes on for many years then the EU may switch over to plan B and enact a Regulation, which takes effect exactly as drafted in all Member States ("directly effective") without the local legislature having any say by way of local drafting.
This answer is necessarily brief and glosses over whole areas of law.

That was the impression I got when they talked about stuff like deact standards in the House of Lords. Their (home office) recent actions over pushing for most expanding ammo to go back to section 1 implies a desire to take stuff off their plate.
Re: European Commission bans: AR15/AK47 rifles and magazines
Rifle expanding ammo to section one has been approved by the lords the bill was in its 3rd reading stage ! Next will be consideration of amendments then royal assent
Basically rifle expanding ammo will be section one now end of unless of course Lizzie says no

Not a ban but put on ticket like moderators and such. From what I've read on Vicky Ford's page the compromise involves grandfathering magazines already owned and being required to show a FAC to purchase new mags over ten rounds. This is for for Europe but it will probably be introduced here to be harmonious with Europe and to prevent people nipping over the Channel to buy them here in order to circumnavigate the law.HALODIN wrote:OK I don't believe there will be any ban on any mags in the UK.

Re: European Commission bans: AR15/AK47 rifles and magazines
All we can hope is that the government will not wish to incur the wrath of the leavers by introducing EU law during the exit negotiations. Should they try to implement it, we need to make sure our representatives (NRS etc) take this to the national press on the basis that we already have the strictest firearms regulation in the EU and it will not make a difference.Dark Skies wrote:Not a ban but put on ticket like moderators and such. I was a bit flippant with the word ban, what I really meant was restrict. I don't think it will happen here to be honest, I just can't see it.

No, I don't know what the Hell to make of that either. She's getting a lot of stick on her FB page, and rightly so. I always thought she was a Trojan Horse.
