If you apply even the most basic scientific principles to the examination of gun control measures its plain to see to anyone who is willing to open their eyes that they have next to no effect. All you have to do is look at what the gun crime/murder rate was BEFORE the measures were brought in and look for a difference.
Without doing any research whatsoever I can confidently predict that the gun crime stats in Japan before their 1958 'ban' were as low as they are now/after the ban. Just as the UKs were before the '68, '88 and '97 firearms acts.
It always makes me laugh/bang my head against a wall when anti-gun proponents smugly say "Well after the Dunblane/97 handgun ban, there's never been a school shooting in the UK". Uumm, well, there was never one before it either?!
