Educate me on Cowboy action shooting
Whats cowboy action shooting all about how does it work. I know its shot using I guess a black powder revolver a underlever and a shot gun.
Whats the course of fire how do you shoot it. I guess you are timed some how. Do you have to dress up like a cowboy or girl.
Any body shooting this type of discipline.

I thought that too - line dancing, American cars, American football, dressing up like cowboys and such all seem to be a 'Northern' thing.Hrun wrote:https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&sourc ... qivrZFpP4Q

Re: Educate me on Cowboy action shooting
I understand it is as you say - a course of fire using revolvers, lever action rifle and shotgun at targets against the clock. I would be interested in it but from my research I understand you have to adopt the persona of a cowboy and dress accordingly which I find off putting. Also from my enquiries there are no clubs in the north east.
Remember, we're all here because we're not all there!

From that website:
One of the unique aspects of approved Cowboy Action Shooting is the requirement placed on costuming.
Each participant is required to adopt a shooting alias appropriate to a character or profession of the late 19th century, a Hollywood western star, or an appropriate character from fiction.
Their costume is then developed accordingly.
Many event participants gain more enjoyment from the costuming aspect of our sport than from the shooting competition, itself.

Tees Valley do it, although they may be a little way South of you.Lever357 wrote:Also from my enquiries there are no clubs in the north east.
As far as I can tell, the amount that you get 'into it' varies and is largely up to the individual :)

The preferred name over here is British Western Action shooting.

They don't like being called a bunch of cowboys as the word "cowboy" has a negative vibe in Britain.
