Gong targets

#1 Post by walesdave »

Hi all

Been looking for some steel gong targets, found these on flea bay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281967517670? ... EBIDX%3AIT

They're AR500 3/8th steel - so good for my rimfire, but not sure about centrefire.

Seller accepted my offer of $22; total inc. shipping came to £32 for x4 4inch gongs.

Anyone else fancy a set, the listing ends tonight so be quick :good:

Cheers

Mmmm-kay......

From the linked advert:
3/8” AR500 steel targets work great for the following calibers 223, 5.56, 5.45×39, 7.62×39 and 308. For velocities over 3000fps use at 200 yards minimum. Handguns should be used no closer than 10 yards and rifles 100 yards.

Search for "Steel Target Gong" on the bay yields many hits.

Tiff from the roundhouse firearms has just brought 2 large sheets of AR500 and is cutting targets soon. Might be worth contacting him as he was cheaper than anyone else when I ordered mine last week.

Many thanks for the clarrification....
unfortunately I was in the office using my private laptop to buy the gongs while 'working' 8-) on the company desktop and didn't have time to read the entire listing.

As far as ebay having lots of gongs listed Andy, absolutely correct - just the price of these ones is markedly cheaper that any others I saw, especially as at that price they just fall under the £15 limit where you have to pay VAT when importing.

Cheers All

Yep and I've heard he's a good guy and supplies nice gongs.......but £49 for 4 small gongs.....
I'd truely love to support local suppliers but unfortunately financially it doesn't allways workout that way.

Found an alternative, a bit better value and they post to Scotland.

If the paint looks wonky, it's because I did it myself.

They are smaller than you would think so should be challenging with factory ammo that doesn't shoot small groups.

More to follow when I've given them a blasting with centrefire.

'tube-bender' on the bay also makes great gongs at a good price. I can say with certainty that they can take 5.56 and 7.62 with hardly a scratch.
Try searching this item number; 232137425925

Looks like he is the same person behind the fox above (or he uses them as a supplier) ;)
Arming the Country, one gun at a time.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.

You're right, that's the same operation, they mention ebay on the website.

If the weather holds I'm hoping to try these out later on.

I'm planning on trying FMJ & soft point to see if there's a noticeable difference in wear and tear.
