I hope the caller doesn't have any repercussions of her slightly silly public announcement.
Having said that, it's nice to hear someone questioning our laws from a new world perspective.

It's not silly at all,CCW works in other eu countries and give you the option to fight back when you under attack ! Had a qualified FAC holder with a ccw had been caught up in that dreadful night just maby he would of put an end to those attacks before the armed response turn up Run, hide and tell is not going to save youDorset_shooter wrote:I hope the caller doesn't have any repercussions of her slightly silly public announcement.

Someone asking the question what would be the implications of using a legally owned gun to defend themselves?? How preposterous(!)
What a time to be alive, when you have to basically ask permission to be able to defend your own life, and the TERRIFYING part of it all is the indoctrination of the last 50 years has been so good and complete most of the comments online have been lambasting her for even suggesting it with the usual b*ll*cks about "We don't want to be like America" "If there was a shooter engaging a terrorist the police might shoot the wrong person" and all of the other horseshyte that people who have no clue/have spent no time actually thinking come out with.
Aaaaaand breathe.....

Run hide and tell probably will save you. If you are fit and mobile. But what of a similar attack; to the last, say during the day in a High Street. Do the fit run and leave the weak, the old and mothers with kids? And is this how a civilised society reacts, a culture of every man for himself?joe wrote:It's not silly at all,CCW works in other eu countries and give you the option to fight back when you under attack ! But the chances of a licensed firearm/shotgun owner, being present armed and competent in these circumstances is remote.
People are understandably trying to come up with solutions to the problem, but they are of the sticking plaster variety. The cause needs to be removed. It was evident in 2005 with the London bombings but that wake up call went unheeded.

You missed the point completely, she is a firearms holder and publicly announced she would be prepared to use it to protect herself / others, last time I checked this wasn't good reason for owning a firearm in this country.
I wasn't opposing the theroy , I just wouldn't be the person to challenge it on live radio.
Can't imagine my local FAO re-issuing my license after shows like that!
Re: Devon and Cornwall PCC
I wonder what the Police (and public) response would have have been, if an FAC holder had shot M. Ryan, as he walked around Hungerford shooting people, for several hours...

The initial query by the caller was "What are the legal implications of a FAC/SGC/RFD holder using their firearms to defend themselves?"Dorset_shooter wrote:

Hernandez then took it one step further by asking "Would you use their gun to 'take out' a terrorist" to which the caller said "Yes".
They didn't say they what to get the conditions changed on their certificate from target shooting/pest control to self defence as you're stating. They were asking "Am I going to get hauled over the coals on the extreme remote possibility I have my gun with me during a terrorist attack and have the opportunity to kill them?"

I will agree to disagree, no point arguing what we both believe in.
My point was I hope she doesn't see any re-percussion from voicing her opinion!!!!
