FAC Interview First Grant
Hi all,
So after many many weeks and months I finally have a date for my home visit / interview which is next Friday morning.
It would be good to understand from people on what sort of questions and information I need to be prepared for, I've applied for 6 firearms on my grant along with a couple of moderators.
Any help / comments would be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

If you've put your forms in you will have already been prepared for whats to come.
All they're likely to ask is what is your good reason for wanting so many firearms, in each case.
They may not allow you to have 6 on first grant, I've often seen people limited to 5 maximum, but it often comes down to what you can convince them is reasonable.
There's not a lot of preparing to do, you're either upstanding with good reason to own firearms, or you're not.
Don't sweat it.

And don't forget the most part of the visit ..................
Cup of tea or coffee and a generous supply of some decent quality choccy biscuits :)

There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)
Re: FAC Interview First Grant
Thanks, in terms of good reasons I am a full member of a full bore club and have the following down on my initial grant list:
.22LR Rifle + Mod
.22LR LBP
.357 Rifle
.44 Rifle
.223 / 5.56 Rifle + Mod
.308 / 7.62 Rifle + Mod
My good reasons are .22 Rifle and pistol comps, gallery rifle for the .357 and .44 and longer range outdoor comps for the .223 and .308
Not sure what other good reasons I could use except that's what they would be used for.

Re: FAC Interview First Grant
I can see them asking why you want 2 almost identical rifles for gallery. Have an answer waiting for that . Quote health and safety and reducing noise pollution if asked about the mods .
PS add a mod to the pistol slot if you don't use it then all well and good but if you find you need one it will cost

By all means quote reduced noise, and if you like, reduced perceived recoil for moderators. Suggest avoid "health and safety" lest some bright spark gets the idea of making them compulsory.kennyc wrote:... Quote health and safety and reducing noise pollution if asked about the mods .

if they do it will be an "own goal" as it will at least double the average FLD work loadIainWR wrote:By all means quote reduced noise, and if you like, reduced perceived recoil for moderators. Agreed. The 'health and safety' line is easily bypassed by the question "Do you wear ear defenders/ear protection?" Most people would say yes. The FEO then chips in with "So why do you need a moderator?"IainWR wrote:By all means quote reduced noise, and if you like, reduced perceived recoil for moderators. This is not a hypothetical situation - it happened to me in Cheshire a few years ago.
Re: FAC Interview First Grant
Don't plan in advance.. be honest..
That's all I suggest
As for the firearms you have requested, I can't see any reason why you should not have them, you have given good reason for them all, so as long as you have sufficient storage..

Re: FAC Interview First Grant
Thanks for the replies guys, I have enough storage so shouldn't be a problem, one last thing following the interview / home visit how long is the wait before you are issued your certificate providing all has gone well?
