Re: Dedicated AR Section
That's fine if you let forum users be allowed to discuss what they want without overtly prejudicial interruption.

Re: Dedicated AR Section
Yes a more general "Straight Pull" section would be better. That way we can talk about FAL's etc.snayperskaya wrote:How about a straight-pull forum in general, that way all straight-pull owners are catered for.........Surely it would have more relevant to more people than say the Emergency Planning sub-forum.Grizzly wrote:Admins - I think you should have an AR section. It's clearly good for business judging on the number of posts posted.
Agree, FBUK is a great forum but 50% of the sections I never click on eg. preppers and grumpy old men.
I wander if the admins have the ability to run analytics. Forums are like supermarket shelves, fill them with popular items and people will buy/post.

Re: Dedicated AR Section
If the new section was a straight-pull area then the .22lr semi-auto AR types would remain in the Rimfire section as straight-pull rifles (whether they are an AR/AK etc are, as a rule, chambered in calibres other than rimfire.TomH wrote:Personally, I think the number of sections is sufficient as is. It is not as if "AR"'s/Straight Pulls cannot be discussed in the forums provided (within the rules). If you create a seperate section you would detract from the presently healthy Rimfire section if the 22 versions were moved there.
You cannot pander to everyone's tastes. You end up with a very clumsy forum in which you can get lost by the shear number of sections. Take a look at Marlinowners.com as a prime example. It is overly segmented and you can easily miss interesting topics that you might find relevant or interesting because superficially it's not one of your chosen sections you usually visit.
It is not a case of pander to everyones tastes, it is giving members a sub-forum that it appears there is a need for where owners of post-'45 military type rifles can post. With due respect it would be a shame if the mods didnt listen to what the members would like and just dismissed the idea.

Re: Dedicated AR Section
So, in Straight Pull would you include rimfire Browning T Bolts? Merkels, Brownings, Blasers etc in full bore calibres? The sections (military/historic apart and pistols apart) are defined by cartridge e.g. full-bore, rimfire, blackpowder, shotgun. If you define by action it can become messy with many more sections, why not an Underlever Section? Bolt Action? Pump Action? Falling Block? Martini Action? Percussion? Wheel Lock? Match Lock? Flint Lock?snayperskaya wrote:If the new section was a straight-pull area then the .22lr semi-auto AR types would remain in the Rimfire section as straight-pull rifles (whether they are an AR/AK etc are, as a rule, chambered in calibres other than rimfire.TomH wrote:Personally, I think the number of sections is sufficient as is. The clue was in "post- '45 military type rifles".......being pedantic methinks.TomH wrote:So, in Straight Pull would you include rimfire Browning T Bolts? Re: Dedicated AR Section
Modern military and straight pull variants section?
That would cover most stuff

Re: Dedicated AR Section
Are you serious? Moving discussions about .22 semi autos to rimfire section will detract from the healthy rimfire section? Ever read the forum? they are discussed there. Maybe you should visit that healthy Rimfire section a little moreTomH wrote:Personally, I think the number of sections is sufficient as is. Hey TomH, how about this for an idea, lets get rid of the Rimfire Section? after all as the FQDN states this is a full-bore website, that might please you and others then as it solves a issue for you.

Re: Dedicated AR Section
As a fan of AR stylee, AK and plastic rifle owner I would also welcome and support a dedicated forum.
As an aside I am a site supporter which must indicate something positive as I wouldn't consider for a second contributing to that other so-called Airgun forum which for some inexplicable reason is rated higher than this one.
