Gun cabinet moisture prevention

Just thought I would share for anyone interested..

For the last couple of years I have been using the gizmo in the pic in our cabinets. The moisture captured is from the last 3-4 months.

I buy them for 99p at the local pound shop (sic) and they are worth every penny. I did wonder how much moisture was from the guns and how much from the environment, but since adding an ammo safe in the same room (upstairs hall cupboard, unheated, one external wall) the one in the ammo safe has a quarter as much moisture.

I use those as well, one usually lasts around a year.
Our local pound shop does a 2 pack for £1 that are a bit smaller but are less intrusive in the cabinet.

Interesting, I have ben using the bags that were designed for inside a car to stop the windscreen fogging up, you can heat them in the microwave to recharge them. I will look out for these and give them a go.

Aye nearly bought some smaller ones today (only in height) for 69p each, then found the one pictured further down the isle.

A year is brill, you must have a more stable environment than me, this is an old house with added cavity and loft insulation and I think the cupboard suffers from the lack of heating and the fact the safes are metal.

Interesting, I have ben using the bags that were designed for inside a car to stop the windscreen fogging up, you can heat them in the microwave to recharge them. I will look out for these and give them a go.

I used these when I started shooting and they are still in two of the cabinets.. I haven't had to recharge them since I switched, which suggests the new ones are capturing the moisture. I use them as a safety check.

I cured my cabinet moisture problems by lining the insides with polystyrene sheet.

Interesting, ours are lined with carpet which wod retain moisture. I wonder how much moisture is from whilst the guns are out of the cabinet and introduced each time we use them..

I use a caravan heating bar in my cabinet with a moisture and temp sensor that I check every now and then. Seems to work well.

We have three cabinets with no space, but I like the idea
