I have a gunroom heater to keep things warm and dry.

It emits compute as a convenient byproduct

Mine is just a little white tube with a thermostat on one end, £25 or something.

That's some home rack you have there, what does it do?!?

Can you mount it vertically though?

Most of these 1ft or 2ft long 40w tube heaters I've seen say they must be fitted horizontally.

I know in the USA you can actually buy specifically designed gun cabinet anti-condensation bar heaters that work vertically, but I've not seen a 240v version on sale in the UK.

We have similar tube heater in the Armoury along with de-humidifiers however it is still worth hauling everything out periodically to inspect.

Haha, that suggests you have too many guns.. All mine are inspected regularly when I shoot them.

Which, probably causes half the problem as I introduce moisture each time?

Shooting certainly exposes rifles to moisture in this country, even in the middle of summer. Luckily we have enough space to segregate those that have got wet, even after drying, cleaning and oiling. They stay in a rack for a while to get some air around them which seems to work OK'
