Re: So it appears they got their wish
Well, good luck to them. I have nothing against any other shooter or shooting discipline. If it floats your boat - go for it.
Re: So it appears they got their wish
I am inclined to agree, anything that promotes shooting in a favourable light must be a good thing however I am a tad concerned as it would appear they have taken advantage of a mailing list or contact list to propagate the news of the new site and such tactics tend to leave a bad taste in the mouth for some people. The vast majority of us are FAC and/or SGC and the last thing I would like to see is private email addresses getting out into the public domain. If indeed this is the case.DaveB wrote:Well, good luck to them. I have nothing against any other shooter or shooting discipline. If it floats your boat - go for it.

I will hold my hand up and say that I have pm'd the link to the new forum to some folks I thought would be interested, mainly those that expressed an interest in such a forum on the recent AR thread on here.......I certainly haven't contacted anyone by private email nor would I.
Before anyone asks I have nothing to do with setting up the new forum......the link to it was pm'd to me on here

Hi Christel, christel wrote:I can categorically say that nothing was leaked from F-B UK - we have had nothing to do with the creation of the new forum.
F-B UK has not been hacked nor have we given any info out to anyone.
This forum is running a secure connection and nothing has been compromised anywhere.
TG, you are not the only one wondering where the new forum has got email addresses from.
Find the common denominator?
Mailing lists?
Just for the record, one more time, nothing has been leaked from F-B UK and honestly I know nothing about the new forum, I have not even loaded the page.
putting on my tech hat here, it is more secure if the traffic your site is SSL / TLS encrypted in transit between the client and server but that doesn't provide any further security when the data is as rest.
Most of the time now days data isn't hacked when it in transit hacker normally look for exploits in the hosting website / server itself. I would suggest that you check your security access logs for your server and also review the latest PEN Test for your server to see what exploits are highlighted.
Back to Channel12's comments, yes there is a new forum, its a shame it couldn't be part of FB-UK so attitudes of people just couldn't be changed from some blinkered views. I am a member on both so we will see what happens, which is my goto board for all my shooting not just BA parts.

Re: So it appears they got their wish
For the record the email address used for my invite isn't an address I use on this or other shooting forums.
If anybody still has their email invite I would suggest clicking subscribe and watch very carefully your browser url's as you are redirected to an unsubscribe page, it might give you a clue as to the source from where address list was obtained. I'm not saying what I thought I saw in case I was mistaken.

Mine appears to be nra.us10.blahblahblah...
Are you suggesting that the NRA of the US sent out the message from mailchimp about this new board?
