Image uploading issues - what can we do?

#1 Post by safetyfirst »

Hey up.

So I'd say at least twice week I see a post saying to pm for pics or similar because people cannot make the image upload functionality work.

I wonder if there is a plugin for the forum or something that could solve this issue, so many posts could be richer if they had pictures to go along with them.

Personally I use "An application" on mobile/tablet which makes the process very easy but not everyone can do that.

And please don't post here saying "well I can manage it fine" I know you can petal, this isn't about you ;)

Petal me razz ...I really cannot see what the problem is.

Click on reply to topic. Browse for the file you want to add and then add the file.

What's the issue? I thought all you needed was a web host for your pics eg. flickr, then you just add the code with the link of your pic into your post...

This subject has been debated else were on the forum in some detail in fact as you say the subject keeps cropping up.
I personally am baffled as to why folks find it so difficult to add pictures.
I don't use hosting sites all though I know others do.
I'm curious as to what the problem is.
Questions:
Are you trying to attach pictures from your phones is that your issue.
Are you trying to attach pictures from a tablet.
How many of you are having problems attaching them from a computer. You should not have problems from a computer by the way its so simple even a old age pensioner like me can do it.

No matter the stickies, the instructions and the availability of third party image hosting services, lots of people still have issues uploading.

I remember trying on the web site once and I recall having to resize my images to a maximum of 1024 wide or something, well beyond the abilities of a lot of people.

Would It be ok for me to investigate the options available and see if I can find something that might make it easier?

See latest post selling a Remington rifle. Resizing images is non trivial. Perhaps an auto resize plugin would solve all?

Are you using a computer to up load your pictures from. If so it should be a five minute job to resize a picture and post it on the forum.
