Confused (i know its easy)
Who on here is a member of a gun company or alied to a company ?
Should they not state their connections on their signiture line maybe ?
Obviously some would find it easy to praise their own equipment and without people knowing their involvment surely this is unfair ?

It is down to the integrity, or lack of it, of individual members to disclose any relationships they have with the trade.

It would be good if people with connections state this but it will never happen and can never be enforcable.
People that are connected to a certain maker would lose any "advantage" by declaring it.

Not a very clear area to draw rules around and even more difficult to enforce.
Overt commercialism is removed except for the vendors forum which is specifically for such promotion.
Any one who visits here with any regularity will soon get a feel for the odd covert proselytisers and apply due circumspection to the value of their posts.
Historically on here this has only been a real issue for us when the occasional pretendy/straight pull AR wars break out.

Re: Confused (i know its easy)
Unless I was trying to promote/get feedback on a specific product there's no way i'd want to have such a label on my head! Remember, most people like that in this country are shooters themselves and may just be here for the forum/info/banter on a personal level. With a label on them they'd be getting grief constantly by people with axes to grind, and there are a fair few of those on here, or getting smoke blown up their jacksies from fanboys (or girls), so probably wouldn't get any useful feedback.
IMO its better the way it is with the Vendors section to keep the axes and arse kissing out of the bulk of the forum

Re: Confused (i know its easy)
Forums are not new, and lots of people use them for different reasons.
One particular shooting forum i use will not allow any other username than your real name.... Not that i have worked out how they can prove everyone is who they say they are. However i will be the first to admit i'm not one for putting my name all over the tinterweb for unnecessary reasons. Especially when google is enough to get most in trouble. But this probably comes from my days in the thin blue line and unwanted social media attention.
I'm 100% agree anyone pushing their "own" company or any "sponsored" links to companies or brands should morally make this known.
I have many friends through shooting, some even own companies but im not going to be plastering those on my signature.
