Sec 7.1 and FAC license
Just a quick one, if I was interested in an obsolete pistol .455 Webley would I need to have this entered on my FAC in order to purchase the item or do you not need a license etc?

Re: Sec 7.1 and FAC license
You would need to apply for a section 7.1 slot on your FAC and be ready to show that the revolver had some historical significance and or meet the criteria, see here for more detailed information.

As above it's not an obsolete calibre unlike .44 Russian which you can own off ticket.
Re: Sec 7.1 and FAC license
Thanks both. I for some reason had thought for years .455 was obsolete, upon your comments and research it appears not! Is it still made commercially?

From memory, when that list was first drafted, .455 was not included because Kynoch made about 1500 rounds a year...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

No, it was Fiocchi and 3000 rounds a year.

Re: Sec 7.1 and FAC license
I thought that the reason the 455 revolvers were not on the Section 58 list is that there is still quite a lot of original military ammunition available.

Re: Sec 7.1 and FAC license
Even if it were not popping up now and again it would probably not be considered obsolete as some have been / and it is relatively easy to shave the cylinder to take hand loaded .45 ACP in moon clips.

Re: Sec 7.1 and FAC license
Perhaps it might be better to use the phrase "NOT REQUIRING A LICENCE" rather than "OFF TICKET" --- which can be construed as "ILLEGALLY POSSESSED" ;-)

remember with 7.1 you can't shoot it and it has to be locked up
