Rifle Bolt
HI All
I have a switch barrel rifle in .308, on my ticket i have a slot for a .300 win mag barrel for this rifle.
When i buy the .300 i will need a new bolt. Can i just buy a bolt to go with the barrel or does it have to be put on my FAC like a sound mod.
Thanks

Re: Rifle Bolt
You will need a specific slot on your FAC for the additional bolt.

Re: Rifle Bolt
You are allowed to have some spare parts for your rifle (and not itemised on the fac) and a bolt was one that was mentioned, but whether this will technically be a spare or not as the barrel and calibre change is an argument for someone else to have.

Re: Rifle Bolt
The rule of thumb I was taught was that if it was a pressure bearing part that would require a proofmark then it would need to be on your FAC. For a rifle that is Barrel Bolt and Receiver, for a Revolver, Barrel, Frame and Cylinder and for a Semi Auto pistol, Barrel Frame and Slide.

Re: Rifle Bolt
On a UK legal AR type of straight pull the only pressure bearing parts are the bolt and barrel (with barrel extention fitted). The receiver is not pressure bearing at all, either upper or lower.Robert303 wrote:The rule of thumb I was taught was that if it was a pressure bearing part that would require a proofmark then it would need to be on your FAC. The only parts listed on the FAC are the barrel, receiver and complete rifle. Sometimes a barrelled action or a few other sub assemblies that have one of more of the said parts are also listed. Bolts, like flash hikers, are controlled by having a slot or firearm that can take the part but are not itemised on the FAC.

Check with your FEO, this is one of those areas where there seems to be some "variability".

Is it a blaser bolt head or another type of straightpull that needs you to buy a whole bolt?

My AR spare Barrelled receiver & Bolt are both on my ticket in addition to the original rifle.

Re: Rifle Bolt
Yes, your barrelled action will be listed as I said above, and is your bolt part of the barrelled action listing or as a separate item?
