We get "TSA Pre" which means we're classed as low risk so get fast tracked and don't have to remove shoes, belts, jackets, electronics etc.

However, last 2 trips my poor kid has had his backpack sniffed, apparently having 12 x 1Lb tubs of coffee in it is a bit worrying for them as it's a great place to hide drugs!!. Strangely the one suitcase they didn't open on the last trip had another 20 Lbs of it in and they didn't even look at it :)

So are you a Yankie Phaedra...?? When I was travelling to the US often I looked into "TSA Pre" and it was for US citizens only....

Us Brits are eligible for "Global Entry", but it costs £42 from the Home office, plus $100 to the TSA... I'd rather wait an extra 10 mins in the queue..!

No, not a yank :)

I have no idea how we got it, our boarding cards were marked "TSA Pre", I assumed it meant we had to have some sort of extra pre-check before going through, when I asked I was told that my son and I had been marked as low risk regular travelers. Whether it has anything to do with me being disabled or my son's Autism I have no idea.

Given the queues at MCO on our return flight we saved a lot more than 10min of queuing!!

I grabbed the chance for Global Entry when they ran the pilot scheme & to me, it's worth every penny, as immigration in Atlanta takes a couple of minutes, rather than up to half an hour.
I seem to get less "we've ratched through your stuff" notes too, not that it matters.

Depending on what hub you fly in/out of Global Entry and TSA Pre save you a lot more than 10 minutes.

If you fly with Virgin you can get TSA Pre as part of the booking (class dependent though I think).

We were with Virgin but just economy plus, with the extra leg room as we need it!.
