US export license - Anyone got one or applied for one?

#1 Post by phaedra1106 »

Club is looking at applying for an export license, primarily for harder to source items like Ruger 204 cases etc. to be bought in bulk.

Has anyone any experience of this, we know about Simpsonsltd.com and Reloading International but the cost of things like 6.5 Creedmoor StarLine cases are over 50% more than ordering directly from StarLine.

We have a few people based in the US who would arrange the shipping or at a push things could be brought back as hold luggage, has anyone done this with an export license in place?

Or, if anyone has a license in place could we come to an arrangement and have stuff shipped for a small fee? :good:

You cannot apply for an export license, I believe, unless you are a US citizen or, possibly, entity like a company.

Also I doubt you'll be exporting from the States but rather importing in to the UK. You need to find an exporter who will apply for a license to ship to you, maybe your people over there can do it for you.

I've brought in many rifles and parts over the years and have used several different exporters, it's not a difficult process from this end and you will need to supply various items of paperwork for the exporter to complete the export license process.

Thanks, we do have someone in Chicago who owns a company that could apply for a license and ship to us so that may be the way to go.

Any chance you could PM me more info on the exporters please?

Don’t forget, you have to pay every time you have something shipped.

Not if you get a large dollar value export license. There maybe a small admin fee with the exporter but the license will only need to be filed once for the term (usually the length of the RFD/FAC used to validate the application as the export license can be valid for longer).
