Certificate wording - S1 shotgun / straight pull rifle
Afternoon all.
I’ve just had my certificate back from a variation where I requested a S1 shotgun and a .223 straight pull rifle. The slots are worded as:
12 Bore - ShotGun
.223 Rem/5.56*45 - Rifle
I’m assuming that as the shotgun is on my Firearms rather than shotgun ticket it’s a S1 shotgun with no restrictions on mechanism etc. What about the rifle - as there is no action type listed, I assuming again that would cover a straight pull (e.g. ScaryBlackRifle) .223 ?
I *think* it should be okay, but interested if anyone’s slots were worded differently.
They’ve left out any new ammunition grant so it’s going back anyway, but very quick from NorthYorks.

That it how it should be, naming the action in the to be acquired part just restricts choice.
It is calibre that defines the slot not the action.

Yes as Dromia says, now go and spend... PS when you buy you have to post pictures...dromia wrote:That it how it should be, naming the action in the to be acquired part just restricts choice.

I already had a .223 when I applied for a variation for another. I was asked why I needed two rifles of the same calibre so I expained that the first was a bolt action and the second would be a straight pull and they were needed for different sporting disciplines.
My certificate lists the two rifles as bolt action and straight pull.

I have five 7.62 rifles, three in 7.62x54r and two 7.62x39, and have never been asked why I need five.I also had a spare slot for another 7.62x54r which I have recently done a one-for-one variation for in order to get a Sec1 pump action shotgun, a Mossberg mod.88 6-shot.Racalman wrote:I already had a .223 when I applied for a variation for another. More than a vested interest in 7.62x54r!

I suspect it is more that you got what you asked for, you specified the actions types as being the difference.

As Dromia said, you got what you asked for. If you'd just said the different .223s were for different disciplines you would have got "2 x .223 Rifle".Racalman wrote:I already had a .223 when I applied for a variation for another.
