Historic meeting entry

#1 Post by Keithkilvo1 »

I might have posted this in the wrong place so apologies before we start.
I have the urge to have a go in one or more of the Historic type meetings at Bisley ( IHAMs, Imperial & Trafalgar) and was hoping to use a Marlin 39 of some description. I would like to fit to said rifle a period peep sight of some type so my questions for the more educated would be

1. Would the Marlin be allowed
2. If this rifle is OK then would I be allowed to fit a peep sight
3. If we’re still OK what would the recommendation for the sight be.

I have sent an email to the NRA for their input but would appreciate your help.
Thank you in advance for your time.

Yes, Marlins are in common use at these meetings. Peep sights are fine if period correct. My Winchester has a Lyman tang sight on it.

Is it OK to have a modern copy of the sight or does it have to be an original

Thanks

Modern copies are Ok, but it is worth noting that they are not as well made as the originals and tend to have some play in the staff.
