Well as mentioned here before Police and Military armories were the main source of Baader-Meinhof Red Army Faction for weapons.
Civilians are a real pain to steal guns off as we are dispersed with widely different types of guns in small numbers being stored. It happens rarely like the unfortunate theft of the rifle that was used in the murder of Joe Cox (albeit if you look at the coroners report the knife is what probably did it).
