Shooting rights template?

#1 Post by BALDYMONSTER »

Hi all, I am looking to purchase the shooting/stalking/fowling/vermin control etc rights to around 30 hectares of land up here in Scotland.

Can anyone tell me if there is a standard template I could print out that covers the legal requirements/rights and such?

I would appreciate any input and advice from others that have bought the sporting rights to their own ground or are legally in the know.

I've been shooting since I was 8 and got my trade as a gamekeeper about 30 years ago and have plenty land to shoot but this is the first time I've actually been able to buy the rights to some land.

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean something like the attached form I use if that helps any. I have an open ticket however I still keep a copy of the completed forms for the areas I shoot over. Or are you looking more for a contractual agreement.

@Ovenpaa: Sort of but more formal as I will be the only person that can shoot on the land or give permission for others to do so.

Basically, if you want to shoot/hunt/trap/snare etc or take any game or vermin you would have to ask myself for permission.

Hope that makes sense.

Yes it makes sense although I have not seen such a form or template down here. I will have a word with our shoot captain and see if he has such an agreement with the land owner.

The obvious first place to look is your shooting organisation. Doesn't BASC or the NGO have the sort of draft document that you are looking for?

Useful but not what he's looking for mate. Baldymonster wants to purchase the sporting rights outright, he will then be the owner of the sporting rights and doesn't need to seek the permission from the landowner to shoot.

Personally I would suggest that even with the proper format from one of the shooting organisations it would be wise to have the agreement looked over by a solicitor prior to parting with any money.

In Scotland if he is buying the shooting rights outright He will have to get a solicitor to go through the official process of recording his interest in the land with the Registers of Scotland.
This will then become a Land Certificate complete with a plan showing the boundaries of the shooting rights purchased.
This will also induce a real right burden on the original owners title confirming that the shooting right do not come with the property
