Re: Collecting banned?
As bambam says, if you owned a flick knife prior to 1959, you could keep it at home. The Offensive Weapons Act 2019 amended the definition of flick knife and will now encompass assisted openers. I’ll check, but I think possession offence is extended to a private place. So illegal to even own them at home!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

You seem to have stopped reading just before the mention of the taser and knuckle dusters. If true these alone will could get him a sentence that will mean he cannot even touch an airgun pellet for a minimum of 5 years.
Arming the Country, one gun at a time.

Re: Collecting banned?
A Taser is a S5 firearm which is SUPPOSED to carry a 5 year mandatory sentence for simple possession. Sentenced to over 3 years and it no touchy ever again.

Re: Collecting banned?
The Offensive Weapons Act makes possession of flick knives, knuckle dusters etc. illegal but the relevant provisions are still prospective and until such time as the surrender and compensation scheme takes place they are still legal to own.

And when are you allowed to breathe in the UK, or have they outlawed that too? My God, what a ridiculously restrictive society you live in!

S46 (1A) Offensive Weapons Act 2019bradaz11 wrote:Dark Skies wrote:The taser, flick knives, knuckle duster, and zombie knife are illegal. I'm betting the wooden handled flick knives are really just loose Opinels. Mostly the scales are made of plastic or aluminium unless they're antiques.
The "firearms" are most likely going to be deacts and air rifles I reckon. You'd really have to be going some to acrue that many genuine illegal firearms.
I thought flick knives, knuckle duster, and zombie knife and the like are legal in the home? You can just never move it ect. you can hardly argue it's not part of a collection.
Any person who possesses a weapon to which this section applies in private is guilty of an offence and liable— ....

And as yet that section has not commenced so currently does not apply.
Expect that to change soon though now the Govt can get its way in Parliament.
Re: Collecting banned?
The Act says compensation will be paid for banned weapons provided they were held before 20th June 2018 (or 22nd January 2019 in the case of spiral knives)BamBam wrote:Will there be compensation for knives?
How they will work out values or how you will prove when you acquired something remains to be seen.

Re: Collecting banned?
I take it my antique WW1 trench fighting push daggers are now banned? Although looking at the act i just have to put them in a box marked "Film props" along with some old call sheets that name me as film armourer.
Also i take it it's illegal to paint my artillery sawback bayonet green and stencil the word Zombie" on it. Not that i would want to do such a thing.
