Weirdly I feel a tad indifferent. I've put in a booking for 200 yards Short Siberia for April to see if I feel differently. But it will be almost a year since I last shot a full bore rifle. I'm not so sure I miss lying on the ground, my back aching (sciatica caused by a stupid sporting accident), with the possibility of rain, to put holes in paper. Nor the 130 miles round trip drive in stodgy traffic or crawling along the perma-roadworks of the M4.

I AM looking forward to going back to gallery shooting with my under levers and BP revolvers. That's in a nice cosy indoor range though - and an easy fifteen minute drive. Not until May I'm told.

A question the last time we were let loose well nearly. It was 30 bodies but no probationers were allowed because they would have to be Supervised on a one to one basis. Only full members with Safe shooters cards were allowed on MOD ranges. Does any one know if its the same this time or can probationers attend.

From what we were told the same restrictions as before will apply until the lockdown is fully lifted.

Max of 30 persons including RCO, First Aider, Butts supervisor and Sentries etc.

Covid specific risk assessment in place with social distancing and protection etc. adhered to.

We allow a max attendance of 24 shooting members, 2 per lane to give enough distance between.

No probationary members or guests or anyone requiring 1 to 1 supervision.

Ok thanks for that.
I have ten MOD ranges booked between now and August I am working on booking up till the end of the year. My only problem is what to do with the probationers who are obviously chomping at the bit to complete there probationary memberships I have guys who need one full bore shoot to complete.

Same problem here. Hopefully when the next part of lock down lifts we can use the local community centre to run some training sessions and dry fire practice drills for ours.

I've managed to get 22 dates booked up to Dec 12th so far. I have the first one in April confirmed and all but 2 of the rest are at the "pending authorisation" stage.

We still have to go to Otterburn and get our RCO's to attend a briefing in early April before they're allowed to run shoots for 6 months on Otterburn and Ponteland which is a real pain :(

And of course we have to be there next Weds fr the range booking conference.

Mine are all confirmed just need to sort out RASP,s etc then we are good to go. The 30 participents is a issue for me I book ranges for more than one Club the Club in question has 150 members and the bulk of them want to shoot.
