In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

At long last I have had a reply back from Birmingham, they tell me:
In answer to your e-mail, the rifle would have to be Proofed within 28 days on entry to the country. We would request you to provide 3 primed case from which we will make our Proof loads.

We have a minimum order charge of £30.00 +VAT, I would recommend you remove the wood. We do provide a while you wait service at an additional 50% cost(please phone for availability).

According to an RFD in our club, he tries to avoid using Birmingham as they seem to have a reputation for blowing firearms up!

I agree with John MH, that they're saying you need to get it proofed (when there is no requirement) because they want your money. :bad:

I truly am worried about this as it is the Danish Krag and the last thing I want to see is a fairly scarce rifle abused senseless...

Here is an interesting read concerning proofing and misleading (untrue) statements from the proof house.
