Mark, I have literally fallen in love with that gun hope you don't mind some questions.

What length barrel is it, can you put on a longer or shorter one if the need/fancy takes you? What type of mod is it and what's the group like over various distances?

20" barrel, works well at 600 IF you can get to grips with the trigger pull, the barrel quick release is missing from UK models and as each barrel requires a separate slot on your FAC its of little import.

I don't know why they removed the quick release for the barrel, I've had it reinstated. Also had a flash hider fitted as I have no need to use a moderator and I like the way they look.

As Kenny says its a 20" barrel. You can still remove the barrel by taking a screw out on the front/inside of the receiver, like BK i have no idea why they removed the quick release :roll: You could in theory order a different length barrel from the Steyr factory but it would have to come (presumably) without the gas port, so would be a 'one off' and would probably cost you more than the gun

The moderator is a Predator Wildcat 8 from; http://www.wildcatrifles.co.uk/sound_moderators.htm I've got the one for my .308 and until recently my 9mm. I just oike them as they're alloy so don't rust (unlike T8's), can be stripped for cleaning (when i can be bothered - might try some C2R on it next time . . . ) and are relatively cheap

With milsurp ammo and the 4x ACOG i normally get 1-1.5" groups @ 100m. If i ever get my arse in gear and start loading my own i'd expect that to drop below 1". Here's a quick video i did a while back (N.B. Music is very much tongue in cheek!);

AFAIK they only come in 20" but you could speak with Sportsmans Gun Centre (may god have mercy on your soul) to see if they do any other lengths. Obviously theres nothing to stop you getting the factory barrel cut down if you wanted a shorter length.

You couldn't really have picked a worse time to want one though as Sportsmans have only just recently put them back up to their full price of a now eye-watering £1500!! They've been half price for at least the past year (£799)!!! You might be able to find an RFD that still has one at the lower price though.

The most exciting thing that should hopefully be coming out for them this year is a .22lr semi-auto conversion kit (inc. a .22lr specific barrel) tongueout Its supposed to be very reliable (unlike the AR-15 ones), but theres going to be a price to pay, with £700 being the current whisper around the campfire :roll:

Actually theres one for sale tricked out with accessories on the UKPSA forum;

Scope is a 1.5-5 Hawke, illuminated SPR-type reticule.
