I haven't heard of "torque effect" before, but it makes sense considering what happens as it spins through the rifling. Thanks for the info, very helpful.

I shot the Vikings 6,5-284 in an S CLass comp at 600 and it was hopping three frames down so shoot at #60 and it would end up pointing at #57 or worse, I had to work very hard to keep it where I wanted it and ended up making some mods to the bipod to counter the torque effect. We shot an M65A .308 with the same (modified) bipod last weekend and it did hop but virtually stayed on the frame.

What do you do to modify them? Weight it down and [stiffen|brace] the legs?

I'd go with a Harris notched legs and swivel top :goodjob:

I think I probably will, but I'll probably wait until the rifle rocks up before deciding. Not sure about the swivel top though, as it adds a bit of height to the bipod, but I'll give it some thought.
I know the rifle's in the country this side of customs, so if you're around next Friday night, I should have it with me.
