The DSR-1 as mentioned above, are outstanding rifles. I know one bloke who owns one and let me have a go. If my numbers ever come up, I'm having one. But at over 10K that the only way. As far as Global Rifle are concerned, I once heard it said, "It's amazing what you can do with mummy's money..."

Like most, I've only seen the Desert Tac at Phoenix. My concern with this one is would be "repeatability". Barrels off, barrels on, alright for a while, but look at a take-down that's had a life, they go sloppy....

For me, I wish the AI stock fitted me. I'm too broad in the shoulders, too barreled in the chest, with a long neck and orangutan length arms. Great in a scrum, cr@p behind an AI stock!

Your concerns about repeatability are understood however with our clamping system I believe them to be unfounded.
My own rifle (which is demo'd at phoenix etc, as well as used constantly on the McQueens during the Imperial etc) must have had thousands of barrel changes with no issue.

In fact on Saturday I was checking out a scope and shot a .75moa group with 6 shots from 6 different barrels/load combination with the barrels out and swapped to another each and every times between shots.

Note I was adjusting the scope between shots for the offset (this is what I was really checking).

the ai stock doesnt suit me either for the same reasons!

Dont forget you can get a pistol grip stock for AI`s.

Indeed, but it's all down to the ergonomics that suit the purchaser. Like at least two other people on this thread, I have long arms and the DTA rifles that I have played with just do not work for me; the mag well sits badly on my wrist. That is a common problem with me and bullpups (my dislike of the L85 is well documented).

That said, a laid back "normal" rifle pistol grip is also uncomfortable for me. I prefer something more vertical and have bulked up and out my H&S Precision stock on my Remington 700 to suit my prone position.

Trained on the early AW so thats the one for me. I evn went out and bought the same rifle and optics. I've also shot the DSR, AE an the AX. All 4 are great rifles and in truth much more than a target shooter will ever need. I recently shot a rifle manufactured by someone called Dolphin Gun Company. It doesn't have the bomb proof ruggedness of the AW but it doesn't need it. It'll spend its life on ranges; not dragged behind me through ditches and gorse. Those days are long behind me.

That Dolphin modular rifle ticked all the boxes; it was sweet to shoot, at least as accurate as my AW, infinitely adjustable and lighter to carry. Yup, if I had another wedge of notes in my pocket, I'd ignore the military sniper type and consider one of those Dolphin Modulars. My AW's days of ownership may be numbered.

I'd rather gnaw on my own liver tha spend another penny with Global.

So you'll be selling it off dirt cheap then?

LOL......that depends on what one considers cheap. What i can confirm is that with the exception of a few red culls, its shot less than 100 rounds this year. I just can't be arsed with the weight.

We're a Yorkshire Badger, so we're genetically programmed not to pay you more than scrap weight for it...

You cant take the money with you and seeing as the cull will likely spread next year ............................................
