They are not there anymore AFAIK.
Tipner is an RN Range, still in use but not available for civilian use.
Steels at Bisley is a sore point, despite some initial indicators that it would be possible the slow pace of bureaucracy stalled progress and as a result the steels that could have been used by the NRA as well as for the RBL Shoot are now being used over private land in Cornwall. The offer to the NRA still stands but I am not expecting any progress anytime soon.

You can shoot steel plates at WMS Steel challenge in Wales. Varied terrain and targets from 100 to 1000+ yards. Excellent facility, and very satisfying to hear the clang from a 303 strike 800 yards across a valley.

Now
that's what I'm talking! Do you move from position to position across terrain to engage different plates in a single serial?
Bit of a trek I suppose but it'll beat the monotony of mind-numbing, perpendicular lane shooting.
ETA: I've taken a look at the WMS website. Still looks a bit pedestrian (and very expensive - I don't need or want 'coaching') but will probably take trip up at some point.

I could probably sweet-talk them if they have their own shooting club there. Thanks. The range was supposedly due for redevelopment when I last went there in '90.

Good luck with that one, I'd suggest that you have absolutely no chance of that happening.

Any particular reason why? I'm assuming then that they do and that you've tried?
