I do like the 7mm08 and the 'improved' version is a cracker to 1200 yards.

I honestly don't know anyone using a 7-08 competitively out to 1000 yds. What bullet are you going to use? 168gn? 180gn? Why wouldn't you just stick it in a 284 case or even a WSM case?

Oh goody , the 'my 6.5 is better than yours' argument

My 260 is tons better than your Grendel so there!

tackb, it wasn't supposed to be an argument but if you want to take it as such then be my guest but you'll be arguing with yourself. The original question put by Badger was "what do you consider to be the best calibre for use at 1,000 yards". He asked and I gave him an answer, nothing more or less. I could have given him any number of calibres but it so happens the 6.5 Grendel as well as being my favourite has also proven itself to me when out shooting prairie dogs at distance.

P.S. I'm happy for both you and your 260 tongueout

Well your no fun blu !

I think the badger needs to narrow down his question to be honest ? There's some monster calibre's that will launch super high BC projectiles at ungodly velocities but at the expense of barrel life and ease of use ?

Any of the 6.5's (260 and 47 are really hot here at the moment) would serve him well?
