For clarification, please note that the larger spring in the photo is the original and has been replaced in this photo with the smaller spring. There is only one spring in the Swing bolt assembly. :good:

That was my bolt, I supplied the photo's............the spring has since been replaced by a stack of Belleville washers, so the bolt is now easy to open.

Interesting idea, might be inclined to try that, how many of what size did you need to use?

The number required may vary from one Swing to another. I removed the spring, replaced the collar at the front end of the firing pin, adjusted the firing pin protrusion to 1.6mm, then measured the space that the washers needed to fill. I divided this by the height of one washer, added two, and that's the number I used.

John Carmichael at HPS supplied the washers...........one or two were a bit too tight to slide on to the firing pin, so I eased the centre hole with a small grinding wheel on a Dremel.

John may ask why on earth you want to try it, but believe me, it works.....

It seems that you can stack Belleville washers in two ways, all in the same direction, or in opposing pairs, and the two arrangements yield different results. Which orientation did you use?

You can stack them in numerous ways however only one way is proven to work, opposing pairs and you always use an odd number of washers.

What he said...........but I'm not too sure about an odd number being essential. As long as they go <><><> or ><><>< and not <<<<<, it should be OK.
