This poll was 60% in favour just yesterday. Now it's back to 60% against.

Dark forces are at work here. Either the paper is manipulating it or the anti-gun lobby have rallied their troops.

Perhaps the anti voters are using this method suggested by one of our members in the GoM forum.

"In Firefox, hover over Dromia's link and right click. This brings up a short menu and item 5 is Open in New Private Window. Select that option and vote then close the window.

A Private Window will not allow any cookies to be stored on your PC, so when you return a few minutes later, you can vote again."

I wouldn't say it's dark forces, it's only a swing of a couple thousand votes - we can pretty much guess how it will end up given the sentiment the general public has regards shooting - that the paper isn't going to have to manipulate anything to swing it to a no vote.

Don't forget - it's not just cookies that track your session - your IP for eg, and - we'd only be as bad as the anti's if we stooped to that level - aren't we supposed to be better people, safe to be entrusted with firearms? ;-)

Fairly sure the Telegraph and Mail aren't bothering with IP limited votes. Don't forget to vote by phone/tablet/etc as well!

(in the wider scheme of things it counts for nowt, but if we can point to this in a month or two's time once all this has died down as proof of support it helps the cause)

No 58.37% (12,042 votes)

An interesting quandary: morally superior attitude with no guns or we play them at their own game and get what we want??

When you compare that to the percentage of the UK population that has an SGC/FAC which is around 2% it suggests a large number of non-shooters are in favour.

Very unlikely. Its not going to be at all representative is it? Do you think anyone who does not have a vested interest in voting yes would even bother clicking a link to end up at these places? To most non shooting people the interest level in this topic is close to zero.

I've already had three emails today from email lists I'm on about 'signing' these petitions. Out of the ~8500 yes votes does anybody realistically think the vast majority have not come as a direct result of the 'pro shooting lobby' rallying their troops?
