I have an Arktis but never use it, instead I favour a fabric covered folding Army sleeping mat of unknown origin that I have owned for years.

you have obviously never noticed that waterproofing works both ways ? how do you think swimming pool liners work? tongueout just get yer shorts on and man it out :shakeshout:
Not sure about the shorts, but you're right about the 'waterproof' mats holding water...

...are there no mats that 'drain'...?

Aim mat here, but before that, a generic army roll mat. Until it went missing at Thetford...

We use a couple of these from Argos, http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... 102411.htm

Not exactly "proper" shooting kit but they are waterproof, very comfortable, wipe clean and an absolute bargain at under £20 :good:

Eh! Lost on me.. why would anyone pay 60 to 100 quid plus for a sheet of plastic covered foam to lay on?

A cheap pair of waterproof trousers ( about £5 ) and jacket ( about £15 ) does me fine and you dont have to roll them up to carry them as your already wearing them!

Just seen the last post.. now £20 is more reasonable for a mat.

It depends if you want to shoot TR and wear a shooting jacket. If you do then one of the ESE mats with the deep 'pile' black rubber section is best. The idea is that it locks with the same material on your shooting jacket and prevents your elbows moving. Also gives you horrible 'range elbow' if you aren't careful!

Have tried quite a few over the years and find the AIM to be top notch!

The only time the evens one comes out is if I'm laying on concrete down at Lydd and need a bit of extra padding.

Good thing with Aim is that it is wide enough to be of good use without getting up and finding that uve got a wet leg or the like as happens with the not so wide ones....and before anyone who knows me chips in I know I'm wider than most tongueout ......
