I have no idea mate, ask your FEO.Grahamcs wrote:Can't I justify a moderator on the grounds of comfort (for everybody) and recoil suppression?
308 recoil and muzzle brakes

Re: 308 recoil and muzzle brakes
I asked for mods on the basis of enhanced hearing protection and recoil reduction. Given without comment.
Re: 308 recoil and muzzle brakes
Will do.
I know what you mean about getting into it as well
weird.

a brake will work on a .308, some will work very well, almost all will raise the hackles of shooters either side of youa moderator will make the .308 into a pussycat, and will make life so much more comfortable for your neighbours

stock design and good technique will also do wonders for perceived recoil as well
A while back someone gave me a light hunting rifle to shoot in .308 Norma magnum...it was ok for 5 rounds or so but you definately felt it....going back to the Konnie was like shooting a bloody airgun and that's a .308.
I find getting down low helps (like Stuey, looks like he's been dropped onto the firing point from a helicopter...free fall).
and possibly my office a keyboard..........time will tell! tesnews
Re: 308 recoil and muzzle brakes
why the hell do you need a muzzle brake or moderator on a .223 or .308 ?. If 14 year old school girls can shoot a .308 Target rifle without these devices and achieve a place in the Queens Final during their first years shooting then no adult needs them. Man up and learn to shoot properly. Use a shooting jacket, glove and sling and you will have NO recoil to worry about.
Be aware that if you fit a 'brake and your muzzle blast is annoying shooters on firing points either side of you, then you have to wait to shoot until they have finished. Personally i would ban muzzle brakes on all ranges.

Re: 308 recoil and muzzle brakes
OK understood, I didn't say it was a problem or that I needed one.
I was just wondering whether there were ways to improve it.
I don't think I was positioned correctly so learning to shoot properly might be a start.
Thanks for the advice.
I also understand your point on muzzle brakes.

Perhaps you'd like to come and shoot .338 Lap Mag or .50 BMG, you might change your mind.Steve E wrote:Personally i would ban muzzle brakes on all ranges.
The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.

Nuff said, you wouldn't shoot this all day
