As if by magic this is specifically addressed in these minutes!! (which won't let me cut and paste them for some reason). item 3.5 - Issue of temp permits. Basically CC MArsh told the group that if the applicant has put their ticket in for renewal in good time (8 weeks) it is unacceptable for licensing departments to force people to hold their firearms without a legit FAC. :good: :good: Make sure you Favourite these minutes so you can refer to them directly come your next renewal!

N.B. If you don't submit your renewal application in good time it says its down to the applicant to lodge their guns with an RFD, which is fair enough

Rumplestiltskin, temporary permit, Section 7 (just adding that to make this easy to find using the Search function)

With ref to 'Solitaire' - I have to say that having sat through one of the presentations (by Andy Marsh's own force) at the NSRA Shooting Council meeting I can see that this project is a dismal failure! It offers nothing new and spins the police's failure to the shooters responsibility.

Hang on a minute, anyone would think that you're a anti police journalist with little knowledge and a couple of quotes who attempts to whip up hysteria at every published memo... oh, wait.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Our club does not allow downloaded CF ammunition on our indoor range. Although the backstop is capable of containing standard CF rounds, their use would not be covered by our insurance and the possibility of someone mixing the two makes it a risk not worth taking.

How does the club feel about CF cartridges with lead bullets, loaded to a specific published data such as that of Lyman? That is then not a "downloaded cartridge" but a variation of a theme, as you would get with different bullets of different weights in the same cartridge.

"Downloaded" gives the impression of altered or ammended in some way. Cast bullet loads are exactly that, cast bullet loads, not a "fiddled with" result.

More or less the answer I was given when I asked if I could use one of my FAC rifles for re-enactment: I might mistake a blank for a live round. Must have thought I was police trained...

As SimG stated, there are LOTS of genuine loads out there which put c/f rifles on a level playing field with pistol caliber carbines, muzzle energy wise.
John Waters book has a lot of data for different sized buckshot balls in a fired case in front of a few grains of pistol powder.

Some clubs must have police trained shooters, to mistake a lead balled round from an FMJ or HPM bulleted round

And this is how we lost interesting stuff, by fighting amongst ourselves.....

To be fair Gaz, last couple of your posts I've read have come across as lacking in accuracy (even smells a bit like a Red Top article) - but I do appluad your efforts (if not necessaryily the contents!) in defence of shooting.

Catch is you both come across as having vested interests and yet you're two sides of the same coin.

Let's be a bit more civil and less internet keyboard warrior - this kind of bickering looks childish on a grown ups (allegedly) forum .

Purely out of interest does anyone know the make of gun cabinet that has laminated locking bolts that the report indicates will no longer be accepted by FEO's?

Sounds like c**p to me. Do you not test and approve your shooters during their probationary period.
